In a Government that went from discursive austerity to euphoric gestures after the legislative elections, an internal video from the Casa Rosada made for striking reading. Cristina Pérez, host of LN+, dedicated her November 3 editorial to a “hug count” between Javier Milei and his Cabinet. With an ironic tone and slow repetitions of the images, he analyzed 31 seconds in which the President effusively greets his officials in the Eva Perón Hall. The segment – titled “The Government, in full metamorphosis” – went viral and opened a debate: political criticism or soft satire of the ruling party?
In the studio, Pérez stopped the video to measure times and highlight gestures: “Let’s now see the three that are in the third hug,” he said, pointing out “ribs colliding” and concluding that there is “a different emotionality.” The focus is not accidental. The scene appears in the middle of what some media describe as a “new choreography” of mileism: celebratory photos, festive music at events and a narrative of internal unity after months of tensions. Milei, who brought in Diego Santilli to balance forces, reactivated weekly political meetings with Karina Milei, Patricia Bullrich, Adorni, Martín Menem and Luis Caputo to show cohesion after the Buenos Aires defeat in May.
Pérez, 52 years old and partner of Defense Minister Luis Petri, combines specific criticism of the Government with an editorial style that, in this case, was closer to pop analysis than to denunciation. On social media, some users accused her of focusing on “nonsense” while the country faces more serious problems, such as the fentanyl crisis. Others joked about his bond with Petri and demanded “measure that hug too.”
The episode reflects the media climate of 2025: LN+ alternates questioning the Executive with softer coverage, and the ruling party seeks to reinforce the idea of unity after consolidating its weight in Congress and securing international financial support. In parallel, economic tensions persist, inflation close to 4% monthly and the official promise to deepen adjustments.
