The former president, Cristina Kirchner He gave an interview with the Generación 94 podcast, that reconstructs, through conversations with the former conventional constituents, the history of the reform of the 1994 Constitution.

Kirchner maintained that today “we must reform the Constitution” and added that he would add “a system of amendments as it is in the United States.”

The former president maintained that “The election period would have to be modified,” because “There cannot be elections every two years, there has to be every four years.” He further maintained that “we must modify the judicial system”, because, “just as the presidential system was not attenuated, neither does the judicial power act in its specific function for the excesses of the executive power.”

Regarding the judicial power, he said that “we must introduce what can be declared constitutional or unconstitutional.” “For example, the reform that is being carried out in Mexico, the election of judges is by popular vote and they also eliminated the monarchical hindrance. Is it modern that someone who can decide about your life, your freedom and your assets lasts a lifetime? The only power that does that is the judicial power.” He also gave as an example the election of the attorney general in the United States. “In other places, for example in the United States, the attorney general is chosen by the President and leaves with the president. Here the current legislation lasts for life,” he stated.

In the conversation he also referred to the accusations of a sector of the opposition that maintains that there is an agreement between Cristina Kirchner and Javier Milei “When I hear that said, I say, ‘But are these people kidding me?’ We could not get deputies to repeal decree 70. In the Senate we repealed decree 70 and in deputies we cannot put the numbers together. And who doesn’t get together? The dialogueists and those of the PRO. Who gave you the numbers to approve the RIGI? The dialogueists and the PRO. And who are those who vote against all that? The Union for the Homeland bloc. And it turns out that we are the ones who agreed with Milei? The truth is, they are very cheeky…”, He stated.
