There were a few weeks for the presidential assumption and Javier Milei still had no confirmed Minister of Economy. He had touched several, without success. And who preferred above all, Luis “Toto” Caputo, failed to convince him for a very simple reason: it was Caputo’s woman who opposed, because she did not want her husband to burn again with power as it had happened in the final times of Macri, in the midst of exchange rate runs that eject him from that wobble administration. The family had suffered it, and Caputo – first as director of the Central Bank and then as Minister of Finance – more than anyone.
There was Milei then trying to “Toto” accept the position of economy. They had already told him that the obstacle was his wife, and that is why he invited both of a dinner at his campaign bunker, the Libertador Hotel.
In that face to face, the president -elect was honest:
– The one told me that you are part of the mission.
Caputo had already been told about Milei’s mystical inclinations, and took him as a huge fulfillment: if “the one” – he tells God Milei – had recommended him for the position, impossible to refuse.

The minister then said in a public event, when they consulted him for his decision to accompany the libertarian: “The forces of the sky acted on my wife, and that is why I am here.” It looked like a joke, although it wasn’t.
This brief story points to Milei is convinced that God is his human resources manager, and that by indication of the Supreme Court he summoned an economist who had already failed great in the recent past. Thus, today we are watching the same film as in 2018 and 2019: exchange runs, incontestable dollar, urgent loan of the IMF, financial bicycle (it is now told “Carry Trade”). And it is not only the same film, but the star the same protagonist, Caputo. Déjà vu.
It is rare for Milei to have chosen it when he himself, in his panelist times of the afternoon a Tevé programs, had signed mercilessness against the official. He said – Textual– in the Mauro Viale program: “Caputo wine and smoked 15 billion dollars of irresponsibly and inefficient reserves.”
It is seen that he now changed his opinion on the suitability of the minister. “The one” had a lot to do. Hopefully they give them a hand with the dollar.
