Criminals use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate child abuse images themselves. The number of reports of child pornography was more than 86 percent higher in 2024 than in 2023. AI and the rise of encrypted chat applications are the cause of this. A headache file for the Dutch police, who can hardly distinguish the images from each other and fears that AI-Kinder abuse “will start people to commit abuse themselves.”
