Criminal case for the murder of Dutch journalist Peter R. de Vries must be redone | Abroad

In that case, the law prescribes that the process must be conducted again, unless all parties to the proceedings agree that it can continue. Unanimity is then a requirement, but defendant Kamil E.’s lawyers refused and asked for the case to be restarted.

The criminal case against the two suspected perpetrators of the murder was almost completed by the summer. Life sentences had been demanded against both suspects, the verdict was scheduled for July 14. But shortly before that, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service came up with new information about possible clients of the murder of the well-known crime journalist. As a result, the case has been reopened and the ruling postponed.

Peter R. de Vries (64) was shot on July 6 last year in the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat in the center of Amsterdam. He died nine days later in a hospital.
