Two cows were killed in an incident involving manure gases on Thursday morning. That happened on a farm on the Verlengde Hoogeveense Vaart in Geesbrug.
Something went wrong while mixing cow manure. This released a dangerous gas, probably hydrogen sulfide (H2S). This is what a spokesperson for the Drenthe Safety Region said. Several cows became intoxicated as a result. Two animals did not survive.
According to the Safety Region, the situation is under control. The site has been cordoned off as a precaution.
