Courted by FC Basel: Robin Hack avoids commitment to Arminia Bielefeld

Last two hits for the DSC

With two goals in the last two games, which contributed significantly to Arminia Bielefeld’s first point gains in the 2nd Bundesliga, left winger Robin Hack recently impressively underlined his importance with the East Westphalians. The 24-year-old gave new fodder to the speculation that arose on Friday about a short-term departure from the Alm after the home win against Eintracht Braunschweig, in which he avoided a clear commitment to the DSC.

“It’s nice when there are rumours. I’m happy here and I enjoy football a lot. I’m happy to be back on the pitch, I’m allowed to score goals, I’m allowed to perform, that’s the main thing. I can’t say what will happen in the future,” said the right-footer, who shortly before had contributed the 3-0 in Arminia’s three-goal series within nine minutes. When asked whether Bielefeld coach Daniel Scherning would be able to rely on hack again next week for the away game in Darmstadt, he kept a low profile: “You’ll see that next week.”

Hack, who switched from 1. FC Nürnberg to the Bundesliga relegated team for EUR 2.5 million last summer, still has a contract until 2025. On Friday, “Sky” reported that the player was already in advanced negotiations with the Swiss First division club FC Basel, everything boils down to a timely change. The transfer fee is between one and 1.5 million euros. According to TM information, the offensive power recently also held talks with Celtic Glasgow and clubs from the Bundesliga.

“That’s football, you can never give a clear commitment of what’s coming when rumors are open. I can’t say 100 percent what will happen in the next few days. What I can say is that I feel good in Bielefeld,” Hack announced, looking ahead to his open future. He is also completely satisfied with his sport at the moment: “I can play. I feel relieved and I have the lightness that characterized me again.” New Arminia coach Daniel Scherning, under whose aegis the DSC was able to score 4 points in two games, was surprised by the rumors about Hack: “I hear about it for the first time. That’s not my issue.”
