The CLB (center for student guidance) received a first report in 2015 about possible sexual misconduct within the family. A then 14-year-old girl allegedly performed sexual acts on her mother AH (53) at the request of her father AL (56). Ultimately, the public prosecutor’s office was only called in in 2021.
About five times
During the investigation, the victim confirmed that she had to kiss her mother on the lips and that they touched each other’s breasts. Her father watched and allegedly also touched her breasts. The facts are said to have happened five times in the living room and the veranda. The defendants stated that it happened at most twice.
Minimize
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the girl’s parents minimized the facts. In those circumstances, the prosecutor demanded a basic punishment of two years in prison, possibly subject to conditions. After the defense’s arguments, the Public Prosecution Service ultimately issued a positive recommendation for suspension of sentence.
“It has to stop”
The defense emphasized that the reasonable period has been seriously exceeded. “Their daughter is now 24 years old and also wants it all to stop,” says master Floor Ameye. Master Marie Desmet also requested a suspension for the mother, because the investigation was dragging on for far too long. It was noted that the couple was already open to professional help ten years ago, but now sees the facts as a closed chapter.
The court ultimately sentenced the father to a one-year suspended prison sentence. The mother was given a ten-month suspended prison sentence.
