Counting bun test 2022 – Family baker Salonen won

Perheleipuri Salonen won the pippuri.fi food delivery bun test in both almond and jam.

Eighteen different buns were selected for the counting bun test: all brands that were on sale in two different grocery stores in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

Saturday’s offer showed that counters are now trading and that jam buns are a favorite of Finns. There were not many characters left on the shelf.

The result of the test was greatly affected by the freshness of the buns. In some of the test bottles, the best before date was already the next day. That, of course, affected the estimate, as a dry bun is impossible to be the best.

Jam buns in test order.

In addition to the signatory, Iltalehti’s countdown jury had a 48-year-old man and two primary school children. The test was performed as a blind taste.

In the tasting, attention was paid first to the whipped cream, jam / almond paste, bun and finally to the whole.

The beautiful appearance of the bun is a pleasure to the eye, of course, but points were only given for the taste with school grades from four to ten.

Special diet diet buns (vegan and gluten-free) are in their own series, but testers tasted them blindly at the same time as the other buns.

When it comes to flavor, real cream cannot be replaced with the vegetable fats or palm oils used in vegan buns. This is, of course, a bit of an unfair setup for vegan buns.

Almond buns numbered in test order.

Gluten-free buns also have the same situation, as gluten-free flour does not have the same hardness as regular wheat flour.

The winning buns stood out clearly.

Family baker Salonen won both the jam and almond series. The test team suspects the bakery has modified the bun recipe since last year, as a year ago the ranking was just as good.

The almond ticket got the best points from the test group, as the almond paste is a favorite of adult testers.

Prices are per transaction, so they may vary.
