Counter-Strike: BIG disappointed at IEM Katowice

At the IEM Katowice, the German Counter-Strike team BIG fell far short of expectations.

After two defeats against Astralis and Fnatic, the Berliners were eliminated from the important tournament before the start of the group phase.

The tournament had started well for BIG. With a 16:13 against Movistar Riders, the team got a good starting position for the leap into the group phase. However, against both Astralis and Fnatic, BIG failed to win the crucial rounds and ended up losing both games 2-1.

Things went much better for the Hamburg team Mouz. The Hamburgers started the tournament with a 16:8 victory and then lost narrowly with 1:2 against Faze. In the second attempt, Mouz managed to qualify for the next round with a 2-0 win against Entropiq.

A good result, also against the background of the current team composition: shortly before the start of the tournament, Mouz had to nominate Jon “JDC” de Castro from the second team for Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras, who tested positive for Covid-19.

The third German team in the Sprout tournament was also eliminated after defeats by FaZe and Godsent.
