Could Leroy Sané leave the club in the summer?

In the summer of 2020, Leroy Sané switched from Manchester City to Bayern Munich for around 50 million euros. In the past few days, there have been increasing rumors that the German international could go back to the island. But is that true?

The answer is: Not as of now. Christian Falk and Tobias Altschäffl revealed this in the latest edition of the “Bayern Insider” podcast. Accordingly, Sané is currently not interested in a change.

Rumors of a transfer to England only surfaced after journalist Pete O’Rourke reported that Sané was considering a move to Arsenal.

FC Bayern is aiming for Sané extension

Those responsible at FC Bayern, it is said, are still completely convinced of the abilities of the ex-Schalke player.

Nevertheless, the topic could pick up speed again next summer. After Bayern had to let players like Niklas Süle and David Alaba go free of charge in recent years, the German record champions now want to speak to any players two years before the end of their contract and clarify whether they are interested in further cooperation.

That would be the case for Sané next year as the left-footed player’s contract expires in the summer of 2025. Then, according to Falk and Altschäffl, FC Bayern would like to know in which direction things are going.

FC Bayern does not want to come under pressure

Should Sané decide against an extension, Bayern could start thinking again and consider an early sale. The pressure on the club should the player go into the summer in 2024 with only one year left on the contract would be too great and the negotiating position too bad.

The national player has scored 34 goals in 108 games for the Munich side. He successfully put on another 33. With a total of 16 scorers, he is one of the best players in the German record champions this season. He also played a very important role under coach Julian Nagelsmann before tearing a muscle fiber in mid-October and missing five games.
