Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who became known as Theo Huxtable in “The Cosby Show”, is dead. According to several reports, including CNN and “People” on Monday, Warner died on Sunday by drowning while swimming during a family vacation in Costa Rica.

The National Police Costa Ricas announced ABC News that Malcolm-Jamal Warner died of Asphyxia after being near Cocles in Limón, Costa Rica. According to the police, he was captured by a strong current. His body was discovered and identified by his family on Sunday afternoon.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner became known primarily through “The Cosby Show”. His role as the lovable Theodore Huxtable, the only son of the figure played by Bill Cosby, brought him a nomination for the Emmy as the best supporting actor in a comedy series in 1986. After several years in the NBC-sitcom, Warner played the main role in “Malcolm & Eddie” in the middle nineties alongside Eddie Griffin.

Also in this decade he became the executive producer of the popular PBS children’s series “The Magic School Bus”, in which he also worked as a speaker. He also appeared in series such as “Here and now”. And moderated “CBS Storybreak” in 1993 and 1994.

More roles and musical success

Warner also played Alex Reed in the short -lived series “Reed Betee The Lines” on Bet and Centric in 2012 and 2015, in which he represented the partner of Tracee Ellis Ross’ Figure Carla. Warner has recurring roles in “Suits” (2016 and 2017) in recent years. He embodied AC Cowling in “The People v. Oj Simpson: American Crime Story” (2016). In addition to his acting career, Warner also had a musical trip that brought him a Grammy. His own albums were not nominated. But he won in the category “Best Traditional R&B Performance” after he had worked on Robert Glasper’s song “Jesus Children”.
