Corry Konings only stops singing when her voice no longer works

Singing songs in front of an audience is the best thing there is, says Corry Konings. The singer from Tilburg does not want to stop for a long time. “As long as my voice keeps working, I will continue.”

Omroep Brabant radio presenter Hubert Mol calls Corry because the Brabant Top 100 is coming. A list of the most beautiful music from our province, compiled by the listener. And Konings is in the list every year with some songs.

“I have been singing since 1969 and I never thought I would last this long,” says Konings. “But I also didn’t think I would score hits. “Crying is too late for you” was huge. It happens, it happens to you then and it’s great. You can only be proud of that.”

“Hey Konings, until when do you actually want to keep singing?”

The queen of life song is now 71 and has been on stage for almost 55 years. “I have sometimes asked myself: ‘Hey Konings, until when do you actually want to keep singing?’”, she says. “But as long as my voice works, I will keep performing. Why not? I like it.”

And there is another advantage. “You have social contacts and get among people. When you get older you spend more time at home, but because of the performance I am often away.”

In 2022, Konings was in the Brabant Top 100 with 4 songs. Will there be just as many this year, or maybe more or less? You decide! You can vote for the Brabant Top 100 until 16 May. You can do this at omroepbrabant.nl/top100. The list will be broadcast on the radio on Ascension Day, May 18, from eight in the morning to six in the evening.
