Creepy surprise: a prospective buyer discovered the mummified corpse of the previous owner while viewing an apartment in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The owner of the apartment could not be found, the bills were piling up. In the end, the bailiff came, seized the 40 square meter apartment in Gothenburg (Sweden) and ordered a compulsory auction. Interested parties came, looked around and left. One struck and bought the apartment.

Nobody had noticed a specific detail: under the bed was the mummified corpse of the missing apartment owner!

The case became known thanks to a police report. Accordingly, a prospective buyer alerted the police on August 20 because legs were sticking out from under the bed. But why has the body remained undiscovered until then?

The responsible bailiff, Fredrik Karlberg, reported to the police: “It stank very badly of mold and the apartment was full of rubbish.” So he had only stayed in the apartment for as long as absolutely necessary – and apparently not like that looked closely.

In a foreclosure sale, an apartment or house is sold as is. The new owners will have to take care of the garbage disposal and cleaning themselves. In this case, that included removing a body…
