The fire brigade came into action last night in Vries for a cormorant who was stuck in a mast. Fishermen spot the bird in trouble on Groningerstraat.
The cormorant almost got stuck in the tip of the mast between two power cables. The animal ambulance was called in, but it could not reach the animal at height.
The fire brigade came to the rescue and with a car ladder, two firefighters were raised to free the bird from his or her approach. Exactly when the care providers wanted to intervene, the cormorant succeeded in coming loose and the bird had literally flown.
