Controversial new signing Felix Nmecha reveals his plans with Borussia Dortmund

On Monday, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund announced the signing of Felix Nmecha from VfL Wolfsburg. A change that caused mixed reactions from BVB supporters.

After Felix Nmecha had made some of the Dortmund fans uneasy in the run-up to his commitment after making controversial statements and posts on social media, he addressed BVB fans directly at his presentation: “I hope that the fans will like me give me a chance to get to know me”



The 22-year-old has now also told the club media what he hopes to achieve from his move from Wolfsburg to Dortmund.

“I wanted to take the next step. The squad is really good, the coach and everyone around is really good too. It was a good feeling right from the start. I’m so excited and I’m looking forward to it,” said the midfielder, who is at the black and yellow will wear shirt number 8 from now on.

Nmecha signs with BVB until 2028

The German national player wants to establish himself in the eighth position at BVB in the future and follow in the big footsteps of Jude Bellingham, who was transferred to Real Madrid.

“As an eighth right in the middle, that’s where I feel most comfortable. I try to do a lot for the team – with and without the ball,” Nmecha described his own style of play, with which he recently became a regular player under Nico Kovac at VfL Wolfsburg had brought.

The native of Hamburg explained: “I always try to play with self-confidence. I always want to have the ball, I want to create and fight for the team.”

Nmecha has signed a long-term contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2028 and wants to recommend himself directly for a place in the BVB starting eleven under head coach Edin Terzic.
