In Peru, a new law has been passed that prohibits social organizations (NGOs) to take legal action against the government in human rights violations. Activists warn that the Vulnerable Groups Act will take access to case law and seriously impedes the defense of human rights. The Congress approved the law with a large majority, despite strong criticism from home and abroad.
