This news hits Eintracht Braunschweig hard: BTSV has to plan without its top scorer. The 26-year-old is headed to the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Braunschweig goes into the second half of the 2nd Bundesliga without Christian Conteh. As the club announced early on Monday afternoon, the 26-year-old offensive player is moving to 1. FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga. He will receive a contract there until the summer of 2029. FCH is reportedly transferring around 1.5 million euros to Oker for the transfer.

At BTSV, Conteh’s farewell creates a big gap in the offensive. With five goals and three assists in the first series, the fast winger was Eintracht’s top scorer together with Mehmet Aydin and an important fixture in the attack. Finding an equivalent replacement is likely to be a major challenge in the short term.

“From a sporting perspective, Chris’ departure definitely hurts us – there can be no two opinions about it,” says sports director Benjamin Kessel about the transfer. “Chris has recently been in the spotlight with his strong performances. His move to the Bundesliga is therefore also a confirmation of the achievements of our entire team, the coaching team and our strategic direction.” His promise: Conteh’s departure will be responded to “adequately”.

The early farewell was the last opportunity for Eintracht to generate transfer proceeds by selling Conteh. The 26-year-old’s contract in Braunschweig only ran until the end of the season. He could have left the club for free in the summer. Kessel emphasized that he had found a “financially good solution” for Eintracht.

In Heidenheim, the Hamburg native, who has played for Eintracht since July 2024, will now meet his brother Sirlord Conteh. The Heidenheimers are fighting as 17th in the table. to stay in the Bundesliga.
