Million dollar dispute over Bundesliga professional

Leipzig benefits from Yan Diomande in terms of sport – but off the pitch there is trouble for the 19-year-old. A dispute has broken out in the offensive player’s environment that involves a lot of money.
Yan Diomande is one of the shooting stars of this Bundesliga season. With his performance he is taking Leipzig towards the Champions League, while at the same time increasing his market value considerably: it has risen from 1.5 million euros to 75 million euros. Leipzig could earn more than 100 million euros from a sale in the summer; the Ivorian’s contract runs until 2030.
At the same time, however, a conflict with his former consulting agency “Maxidel Management” escalates, as “Bild” reports. After Diomande moved to the US agency “Roc Nation” in February, the former management went to the international sports court CAS. At the center are claims in the millions.
The background is an alleged exclusive contract that Diomande is said to have signed at the African Cup of Nations in Morocco at the end of 2025. The firm of former Ivory Coast captain Max Gradel expects the agreement to be valid until December 31, 2027. The case is complicated by different legal situations. While such exclusive contracts are possible in France, they do not exist in Germany. Diomande’s new advisors apparently took advantage of this gap.
“Roc Nation”, led by rap star Jay-Z, is said to have made the move financially attractive for the player and his family. Accordingly, there were extra payments in the high six-figure range as well as prospects for lucrative deals, including a recently concluded equipment contract with New Balance. This is a common investment for the agency. Commissions of between ten and 15 percent could be incurred in the event of a future transfer. With a transfer fee of 100 million euros, that would correspond to income of ten to 15 million euros.
The relationship between Diomande and his former agency is considered to be broken. Contact only exists as part of the ongoing proceedings. The dispute has little impact on RB Leipzig. Even if Diomande violated agreements with his old agency, it remains of no significance for the club. In Germany, when it comes to transfers and contract extensions, only the agreements between the player and the club count – regardless of their advisors.
