Weezer have had a turbulent week-even for a band that is never too good for a good WTF moment. Shortly before the start of the first coachella weekend, it became surprisingly known that they are part of the line-up. Singer Rivers Cuomo then burst a bomb on the stage.
“We have been busy making the Weezer film in LA in the past few weeks,” reveals the musician. “But when Coachella called and asked: ‘Hey Weezer, are you in the mood for a surprise appearance?’, We said: ‘Definitely!’ It feels so good to be here and let out these emotions. ”
Then they played their song “Undone (The Sweater Song)”. The entire setlist consisted exclusively of songs that appeared before 2008 – a nostalgic throwback, without any “Pacific Daydream” or “OK Human”.
What does the Weezer fans come up?
There is still no official information about the action, the title or the planned release. In the Wezer fan community, however, it has been rumbling for a while that there is something in the bush. The previous information indicates a mixture of band biopic, fake documentary and trashy superhero adventure. The production seems to be one “Filmed Merchandise Signing” to contain. Fans could even participate if they were ready to sign a declaration of confidentiality and bring a lot of waiting time.
An appearance by the actor Ben Schwartz (known from “Parks and Recreation”), which is also supposed to appear in the film, created a lot of buzz. In a clip on social media, the actor explains on stage during a Weezer show what should happen: “Now there is a big fight in which Weezer fight against nasty villains. I will go to different places, someone strikes for a WEEZER member-and you react! Then I say: ‘Weez strikes back!’ – and you cheer! “

But before fans could see the nerd rocker live, another message shook the band: Jillian Lauren, wife of bassist Scott Shriner, was shot on Tuesday (April 8) by the police in Los Angeles and arrested for attempted murder. Shortly afterwards, Shriner himself was discovered by Paparazzi and gave the all -clear: Lauren is doing well – and the show at the Coachella could take place as planned.
