A striking appearance in the heart of Assen in recent days: a concert hall on Weilen. In the past few days, classical music for basschool children from the municipality sounded from the mobile concert hall.
The Classic Express, the mobile concert hall of the Princess Christina Competition, parades in the middle of the square. Young prize winners of the Princess Christina Competition, a foundation that encourages children and young people in their musical development, will perform today and tomorrow.
They do this to pass on their passion for classical music to children in Drenthe. In collaboration with the Muziekkamer Assen, they ensured that 155 children can attend a concert these days.
Bram Bruin from the Muziekkamer is one of the initiators who received the Classic Express to Assen. “We organize around ten classic concerts a year and think it is important that the youth comes to our concerts. Hence the fantastic initiative to put the Classic Express here. This is already the fifth time that the Classic Express is here. We would like to make it an annual event,” says Bruin.
Wim Näring, also from the music room, enthusiastically talks about the Classic Express. “It is very pleasant to be busy with these types of events. There are six classes to the six different concerts.”
The moving concert hall can move up to 14 meters long and 7 meters wide. Through an acoustic system that is on the bus you have the real experience of a concert hall. After tomorrow the bus will continue to other places in the country.
