The well-being of the Icelandic horses on the set of the TV series Everybody Loves Horses has sparked a debate.
Samuli Edelmann plays Oskar, who recently divorced for the second time. Sara Dögg will be seen as Krunka, the owner of a horse farm who is tired of tourists. Sari Aaltonen, General
The horse trek of Kaisa, Oskar and their partners in Iceland continues in the domestic series that has become a small phenomenon Everyone loves horses.
Horses have taken center stage in social media discussions. Viewers have become concerned about the well-being of the horses used in the filming. Yle Areena has done this to calm them down on Facebook several posts on the subject. They assure that the horses have been in the right place. The filming focuses on, among other things, the trust between horse and human. In addition, the horse nurse is fully familiar with the characteristics of horses. The animals have also been trained, easy to control, good-natured and willing to do repetitions.
– Horses were therefore not taken into account in the filming, other than that there were different requirements for them, for example in terms of nerves and repetitions. I didn’t get a very horse-friendly impression of this production based on this publication, among other things Mervi has still criticized on Fb.
The relationship between Oskar and Krunka warms up little by little, even though Krunka’s teenage son is against it. Oskari, on the other hand, cannot contact his own son. Sari Aaltonen, General
In particular, there has been concern about the carrying capacity of Icelandic horses and how much the actors who rode them have weighed.
– I’m mostly thinking about weight limits here. Small tough daddies and a big man on the back, Crista takes care of.
– It’s really sad that even this series now feeds the delusion that a person of any size can ride Icelandic horses without worry. It’s confusing that TV production has also joined in on this, Sonja wonders.
Matias, played by Peter Franzén, develops such a special relationship with the Icelandic horse below that the man wants to buy it for his own. Sari Aaltonen, General
From Yle’s side, it has been specified separately that the Icelandic horses were only ridden for short periods of time during the filming and that they were allowed to take a lot of breaks during the filming.
– Our horse expert in this production says that there is no exact weight limit for riding, but as a general rule, the maximum load for Icelandic horses is 20-35 percent of the total weight, and according to research, both Icelandic and Mongolian horses can carry more weight than the average horse!
Sophia has asked Yle for the source for the mentioned studies, and Katrik too waiting for information.
