The match between NEC and Willem II was temporarily stopped on Saturday afternoon due to a serious injury with a player of the home team. Dirk Proper came into contact with teammate Koki Ogawa during an air duel and remained on the turf.

There was immediately a big panic on the field, after which the medical staff of both clubs ran to the players. The Japanese soon went a bit better, but players from NEC and Willem II stood in the Proper. Shorts were set up shortly thereafter. In the end, Proper was worn off the field by stretcher. His health is now doing well.

When the players had resumed the game, it was quickly stopped again due to a medical emergency in the stands. The players stayed on the field and after a few minutes, referee Danny Makkelie was able to get the game going again.
