Community police officer about copper theft at cemetery: ‘This is very sad’

Copper was stolen from five graves at the Sint Petrus Kerkhof on the Elisabethstraat in Vught last week. This was announced by local police officer Marcel de Rouw via Twitter.

It concerns copper chains and pipes. “Every theft makes an impression, but theft of items from graves is very sensitive and is also very sad,” says De Rouw.

According to the community police officer, a total of nineteen meters of chains and eleven meters of pipes have disappeared. The board of the cemetery has reported the theft. Police are calling witnesses to come forward.

Sint Petrus Kerkhof contains a total of 397 graves and a total of 843 people are buried.
