Today, 50 police officers, civilian experts and military personnel received an International Missions Commemorative Medal for their efforts in peacekeeping missions around the world.
These experts have contributed under dangerous circumstances to building the rule of law and modernizing the security apparatus in Ukraine and Iraq, among others. For example, they have helped build police forces and stop corrosive crime.
After the opening of the ceremony by Minister Van Oosten of Justice and Security, the medals were presented by Commander of the Armed Forces General Onno Eichelsheim, Commander Royal Military Police Lieutenant General Annelore Roelofs, Deputy Chief of Police of the National Police Wilbert Paulissen and Deputy Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Hans Docter.
During the ceremony, attention was also paid to the home front of the decorated recipients. Family members often have to miss their loved ones for a longer period of time, which makes a mission difficult for the home front. As part of the ceremony, the children therefore received a children’s medal.
