A German hope in the Nordic combination will be missing at the Olympics. A serious knee injury brakes Maria Gerboth.

The Nordic combined Maria Gerboth has to do without the Winter Olympics in Italy due to injury. This was announced by the German Ski Association. The 23-year-old was seriously injured on the left knee in the Summer Grand Prix in Chaux-Neuve, French and suffered a tear of the front cruciate ligament and other complex injuries. The operation took place one day after the incident in Munich and, according to the association, was successful and without complications.

Gerboth, who was tenth in the overall World Cup last season, the second best German combined German combined behind Nathalie Armbruster will be canceled for the entire next winter. “When Maria can get back into training therapy and sports-specific training, depends on the healing and rehabilitation course,” said team doctor Lukas Pecher. “Our long-term comeback plan includes a period of twelve months.”

The WSV Schmiedefeld World Cup starter will also be the Olympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in February. “It is a big setback for me, but I’m more than ready to go back to the top of the world – and we’ll see each other in winter 2026/27 when I will fully attack again,” said Gerboth.
