The tree is a tribute to Julie Aneca, a young girl from Blankenberge who is battling cancer herself. “Julie also supports our campaign for Stand Up to Cancer. Unfortunately, there are still many people fighting this disease, and some have lost loved ones,” said Dobbels.
The artwork invites visitors to pause, have a chat and support cancer research at the same time. There will be an official opening moment on Friday, where interested parties can contribute directly to Kom op tegen Kanker via a QR code.
