The Colorado Rapids have announced the signing of German legionnaire Jasper Pfundsend from Real Salt Lake City. The 26-year-old midfielder signed a contract until the end of the year worth up to 100,000 US dollars (91,000 euros) if the Cologne native achieves certain performance goals. Salt Lake City also receives Colorado’s second-round pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft and an international roster slot for 2024.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jasper as the latest addition to the squad,” said Colorado athletic director Fran Taylor. “His athleticism and ability to cover large areas of the field are notable assets. His versatility not only improves our squad depth, but also increases competition within the team. We are excited to see how he will integrate into the group.”

Pfundsend is leaving Salt Lake City after two years and 59 games and will play alongside former Man City keeper Zack Steffen, among others.
