Colleagues were shocked by Marko Lämsä, 47, of death: “No signs”

The 2006 tango king, as well as the 2004 and 2005 tango prince Marko Lämsä recently died at the age of 47.

Lämsä worked with many Finnish musicians during his career.

Jukka Hallikainen, the 2008 tango king and Lämsä friend, says he was in contact with Lämsä early in the year.

– We planned summer work and golf trips. We weren’t really involved every day, but we always changed our news. Both had their own hurry, says Hallikainen.

Lämsä’s death came as a surprise to Hallikainen. Hallikainen does not know the causes of the death of Lämsä and he emphasizes that at the moment, the well -being of loved ones is more important than the reasons.

– Of course it came as a surprise. Young man. Younger than one year, so of course it is a big surprise that this has happened.

– I think everything was bright. He had a 6-year-old child who was the light of his life. Everything looked good. Marko was working hard as he was a personal trainer. I didn’t see anything that could have led to this situation. There were no signs in the air. Really unfortunate event. Too early a good friend left, Hallikainen says.

Hallikainen describes the warmth as a warm and kind -hearted person who could take others into consideration. Hallikainen also praises Lämäni as an artistically talented and good thrower.

Hallikainen and Lämsä knew a long time. Hallikainen visited Lämsä as early as 2006 when he was in the back of the Tango Market Final. When Hallikainen himself was crowned two years later, he and Lämsa became a party in the Tango Market. The duo had enough party gig for many years.

Hallikainen, Lämsä and Risto Nevalainen founded, among other things, in 2009 The story of the three kings -The show called and performed as a trio on ships for 15 years.

Singer and actor Reeta Vestman and Lämsä participated in the line -up of the Golden Abba Show in 2019-2021. Vestman played a musical concert in the role of Agnetha, in the role of Lämsä Benny. There were about 50 concerts during the tour.

The tango queen remembers

Elina Vettenranta was crowned the tango queen in the same year as Lämsä received her Tango King’s title. Already during the competition, Vettenranta recalls that Lämsä will be crowned as the winner of the competition.

– Yes, I already listened to the fact that he had a really great voice. A bit of a classic type of ringing tenor -like. Yes, I thought then Marko probably wins. He was my favorite, Vettenranta recalls.

The tango fever was still great at that time. Lämsä and Vettenranta concerted together for a few years after they were crowned for tango king.

The last time they concerted together was about ten years ago. After that, they no longer had time to run back.

– We had to have a joint gig at the Kauppinen Folk Music Festival last summer, but Marko became ill and had to cancel it. We had to see for a long time, but then it stayed. The years have passed so fast and I have often wondered what he has. We followed each other on social media, but otherwise communication over the years, Vettenranta says.

Vettenranta says she has no bad memory of Läms. He was a friendly and easy -to -keep person.

– He was a sensitive but really humorous showman at the same time. The sensitivity was really strong underneath and it was also reflected in interpretations, says Vettenranta.
