Coffee time viewer (79) gets a blow to the brain, help from Jan Slagter?

There is a lot of sadness among the elderly viewers of the morning show Koffietijd. “It was a blow to my brain to hear this,” said one to the NOS. Does Jan Slagter come to the rescue?

The morning show Koffietijd will cease to exist in the spring, because sponsor Postcode Lottery believes that too few people are watching. It concerns about 100 thousand viewers. “Too little for an expensive live program. Delivery price will be around 45 to 60 thousand euros, I suspect,” says former SBS 6 boss Tina Nijkamp.

Moderate viewing figures

Coffee time yesterday attracted 119 thousand viewers, good for a market share of 28 percent. That seems like a large percentage, but according to Tina, they are mainly elderly viewers. In the commercial target group 20 to 54 years, the share remained at almost 17 percent. And that at ten o’clock in the morning when there is hardly any competition. “Unfortunately, that is very poor.”

They are considerably more viewers than NPO 1 has between ten and eleven o’clock in the morning. Yesterday, for example, that channel only attracted 41,000 viewers with the Netherlands in Motion. At 11 o’clock, when Time for MAX is repeated, about 73 thousand people watched. Does Omroep MAX boss Jan Slagter not see anything in taking over Koffietijd?

Clap your brain

Jan would in any case make the elderly viewers of Koffietijd very happy. The 79-year-old Marlene Cauberg, for example. She tells her story at the NOS: “I loved Coffee Time, so it was a blow to my brain to hear this. It was a very interesting program with different guests every time and a lot of attention for women.”

It was part of her morning ritual. This also applies to 73-year-old Ans van Schagen. She tells the broadcaster that she enjoys household and clothing items. “And also news about movies, music, song and dance. And the delicious dishes that the chefs make there. I think it’s a wonderful time for myself.”

Does Jan want it?

Does Jan want to have this show? “We always broadcast the rerun of Time for MAX at that time and it scores just as much, so why should we… We did it once, didn’t we? It was then called KoffieMAX with Myrna Goossens. It is a pity, but 100 thousand people are watching it,” the MAX boss responds in the talk show HLF8.

It doesn’t seem to run hot, but it doesn’t rule it out either. “Well, with daytime programming I don’t know if there is still money with the public broadcaster, because it is already getting tight, but never say never.”
