Coffee shops must be removed from the city center of Den Bosch to contain nuisance

Do you want to get a joint in Den Bosch? That will no longer be possible in the center within a few years. Two of the five current shops must leave the city center in order to limit nuisance. There will be one new coffee shop in town to spread sales more.

Den Bosch currently has five coffee shops. Two in Hinthamerstraat, one on Emmaplein, one on Maastrichtseweg and one on Oude Engelenseweg. Two are therefore located in the middle of the city center of Den Bosch and that has been a nuisance for years. The shops increasingly serve as collection counters, which means that more and more people come to the shop.

According to mayor Jack Mikkers, this will cause extra traffic nuisance. From cars that double park to visitors waiting in the car with the engine running and loud music. A new policy from the municipality stipulates that a number of coffee shops must therefore move to another location in the municipality.

There will also be one extra coffee shop in Den Bosch, so that there will be more spread in sales and thus the nuisance.

Within five years
Especially the coffee shop owners in the city center of Den Bosch were against a move for a long time. According to the municipality, the plans have been discussed with them. They have five years to move. The municipality has offered to help them in their search for a suitable place.

The starting point is that coffee shops move to an easily accessible place, but not in the city center or village centers and not near schools. The coffee shops may also not be located in a place where many catering establishments, shops or companies are located together.
