Coffee on the train: Nur opens her kiosk on the Mandela Bridge

Last summer we informed you that coffee kiosk Koffie & Meer was for sale. Now more than a year later, an entrepreneur has finally been found who provides a hot cup of coffee before we board the train. Nur Isic is proud of her new business.

Five days a week, Nur travels from her hometown of The Hague to her coffee shop on the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Zoetermeer. “The furnishings are not completely ready yet.”

Sandwiches, hot chocolate and coffee

Train passengers who have sprinted out the door without breakfast can go to Koffie & Meer for a croissant or a cheese sandwich. “Every morning I bake them warm,” says Nur. “A new coffee machine with fresh beans and hot chocolate will be available soon. That’s nice now that it’s getting colder outside.”

A new theme every season

Nur has decorated her kiosk in a Halloween atmosphere. “I went to the store last weekend to buy Halloween accessories to decorate my business with. I will also do this around Sinterklaas and Christmas. I then create a corner with decorations and associated seasonal products, such as peppercorns and spice nuts. And in the summer, customers can enjoy fresh fruit juice.”

Nice comments

Nur is from Turkey and has been living in the Netherlands for two years now. “I first took language lessons and gained work experience in a call center and at McDonald’s. I thought it would be fun to start my own catering business one day. I saw this property for sale and went for it.”

Passers-by and train passengers are responding positively to the reopening of the coffee kiosk. “I hear from people that they missed getting something tasty. They also like that something is happening here again.” This week and next week Nur has an opening promotion. When you buy a snack or a sandwich at Koffie & Meer you will receive a cup of coffee as a gift.
