Wet roads that will freeze and possibly up to ten centimeters of snow. The roads may become very slippery until Sunday evening, which is why the weather institute KNMI has issued a code yellow.
“There is a good chance that we will wake up in a white world tomorrow,” says RTV Drenthe weatherman Gert Voerman. “Tonight and tonight the temperature will drop just below zero. Wet roads will freeze and therefore become very slippery. In addition, there will be some snow showers.”
The KNMI takes into account that the risk of slippery conditions may continue until Sunday evening. Code yellow applies until Sunday evening 8 p.m.
Not only the KNMI, but also Rijkswaterstaat warns of dangerous situations due to weather conditions, even if gritting is taking place. Although the organization does not expect any crowds on the road, this does increase the chance of slippery conditions. “The salt on the road is not broken in as well,” she says. “Road users are advised to adapt their driving style and keep sufficient distance.”
