On Netflix there is a little gem that is enjoying success, feeding ever-growing ranks of fans. It is about Cobra Kaia series inspired by the stories of Karate Kidexpanding the narrative schemes and updating the main elements.

Halfway between sequels and spin-offs, in the four seasons available on Netflix (completely missed stages, if we think that it debuted in the United States only in 2018 on the YouTube premium service), Cobra Kai takes place 34 years after the events of the famous film trilogy with the same characters and even the same cast members.

Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) he is now a middle-aged man, failed and annihilated, who suddenly finds an opportunity for redemption and rivalry with his historic opponent Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio)in the meantime become a wealthy entrepreneur.

The paths of the two rivals intertwine and cross, involving the younger generations, in an ideal passing of the baton and gradually discovering family intrigues with dramatic implications.

Cobra Kai is a “binge watching” product, capable of capturing for the fluidity of the narration and for the continuous references to the original works. A successful bridge between historical universes and their actualization.
