Coast all in all satisfied with Pentecost weekend

The rainy and fresh Whitsun weekend did not provide the hoped-for influx to the coast. Still, the grand total from Friday to Monday stands at 490,000 overnight stays. This means that the region is eight percent above the figure in the same weekend last year, but ten percent below that of the last Ascension weekend. Depending on the seaside resort, the hotels were well or limitedly stocked.

“With the good Easter holidays and the traditional extended weekends, the Coast can look back on a successful spring,” says Liesbet Billiet, Regional Manager Coast at Westtoer. Nearly a third of the booked overnight stays were in the name of Walloons or Brussels residents, who, just like during the Easter holidays again easily found their way to the sea. Many second residents also enjoyed the sea air during the extra long weekend
