Coalition in Enkhuizen wants to restore confidence in politics, including through referenda

The new coalition in Enkhuizen wants to restore confidence in politics. According to Enkhuizen Vooruit!, SP, CDA and Nieuw Enkhuizen, the voter has sent out a signal that the parties will do something over the next four years.

“The gap between the municipal administration and the resident is large. The mistrust too. The results of the last municipal elections have unequivocally demonstrated this. That is a signal that cannot and should not be ignored,” the coalition agreement reads. LEF Social & Business Ahead!’.

This refers to, among other things, the great electoral success of Chris Segerius with his party List Segerius. His goal was to finally complete all the pieces surrounding the development of recreation area Enkhuizerzand to get to the table. Some documents have been declared secret from which, according to the municipality, it should show that a good deal has been concluded with park developer Europarcs, but according to Segerius it is way too cheap done by hand.

Pieces of Enkhuizerzand public

It got him so many votes that he got more seats (2), than he had in candidates. So other parties took advantage of his votes. Before the new city council had really started Segerius died suddenly, but his seat remains vacant, so that Enkhuizen has 16 council members. The still secret documents will be made public by the coalition no later than 31 December.

The parties want to be more present in the neighbourhoods. For example, aldermen Jan Franx (Enkhuizen Vooruit!), Wim Hoogervorst (SP) and Win Bijman (CDA) each have a district under their care, and this is rotated annually. There will also be a consultation hour for aldermen.

Referendum for major decisions

Enkhuizen also wants to start a pilot with referendums. Major decisions must first be presented to the residents. What this will look like in practice is unclear, but a possible merger with Stede Broec and Drechterland is mentioned as an example for which support from below is needed before such a decision is made.

The coalition also wants to build at least 400 homes over the next four years, with a priority for the Gommerwijk West-West district on the outskirts of the city. Locations for flexible housing are also being sought.

Plan for parking problem in 2023

For years are there parking problems in the center of Enkhuizen. But plans to do something about it, such as paid parking, died every time† The new coalition says it will come up with a plan by 2023 at the latest. “We cannot and must not wait any longer.”

But it is not clear from the coalition agreement what that plan will look like. Although paid parking seems to be negotiable. “We look creatively at all possibilities and we want to ensure that there are no parking costs for residents and companies or that they are kept to a minimum.”

CDA party chairman Gerhard van Galen says in a reaction that he is very satisfied with the coalition agreement. “Our ambitions, such as building homes and mitigating local taxes, are reflected in it. And with Alderman Win Bijman, who has 10 years of experience as a director in Koggenland, we have drawn a lottery ticket. All parties complement each other excellently. , we have every confidence in it.

The agreement will be discussed in the city council on May 31.
