Coach Lukas Pfeiffer’s contract with VfB Lübeck extended

Through promotion to the third league

Coach Lukas Pfeiffer will stay with VfB Lübeck in the new season. As a result of promotion to the 3rd division, the contract has been extended by option until summer 2024. Since the 32-year-old does not have the required UEFA Pro license due to canceled courses during the corona pandemic and changes in the admission criteria, it is still unclear whether he can continue to act as head coach.

“We are in regular and solution-oriented exchange with the responsible bodies at the DFB and look forward to a decision with confidence,” said Lübeck sports director Sebastian Harms.

Pfeiffer was promoted from assistant to head coach at VfB two years ago and led the traditional club back from the Regionalliga Nord to the 3rd division. Born in Lüneburg, he had previously worked for the DFB himself. Among other things, he worked in the field of opponent analysis and was part of the coaching staff of the German U17 national team.
