In the past, SC Freiburg has extended the contract of coach Christian Streich every year, now this tradition seems to continue with its successor. As the Breisgauer announced, the Bundesliga club with Julian Schuster has agreed to expand the cooperation. Assistant coach Lars Voßler and analyst Franz-Georg Wieland also stay on board. As usual, no information was given at the exact time of the contract.

“Julian and his team did an impressively good job last year,” said Freiburg’s sports director Jochen Saier and added: “Julian brings a very high degree of quality and identification. The development of the team is absolutely positive and everyone is very close together. It is simply good. Therefore, we are very happy about the joint extension of the cooperation.”

Ex-professional Schuster explained: “The club and the region mean a lot to me. We had a great year and have been able to develop a lot of things- beyond the tabular success. It fills me to work on this further development together with the coaching and functional team and the team.” The 40-year-old Schuster had taken over a year ago for prank and led the club to fifth place in his first year and thus to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
