Club Brugge is satisfied with the new step from the Pro League towards eighteen clubs in first class and anchoring of promising teams in second. CEO Bob Madou believes that more clubs can go into Europe.

“I am happy,” Madou begins. “Not only for Club, but also because we have avoided a major problem. If you look at the procedures with law holders in Germany and France, then we could not afford this with Belgian football. Then there might be zero euros to distribute within a month. I am happy that we as a Pro League have been able to take our responsibility.”

In terms of format, Club did not get exactly what the intended, otherwise everything is going well. “Fewer competitions, a few competitions can postpone in function of Europe and anchoring our teams in the Challenger Pro League. Our preferred format was always 14-6 (competition with fourteen, play-offs with six, ed.).”
