At the club World Cup, FIFA will distribute prize money of $ 1 billion (930 million euros) to the clubs in summer. This was announced by the World Football Association after a meeting of the Council on Wednesday (05.03.2025). According to FIFA, a solidarity contribution for clubs worldwide is planned that do not take part in the tournament.

So far, FIFA has given only a few information to finance the mega event in the USA, and sponsors were recently presented occasionally. How much the individual teams receive alone for participating in the tournament and how the prize money is distributed was also left open.

As the British newspaper “The Independent” reports, the funds estimated for the participation should not be distributed evenly among the 32 clubs – but should be staggered after confederations. Several hundred million US dollars are paid dependent on sporting performance.

Europe with twelve teams

“All income from the tournament is distributed to the participating clubs and as solidarity contributions to club football all over the world. Not a single dollar remains with FIFA”President Gianni Infantino was quoted in the association announcement: “The FIFA reserves intended for global football funding remain untouched.”

The Champions League of the European Football Union (UEFA), which will be held in a new format with 36 clubs this season, releases a total of 2.47 billion euros.
