Borussia Dortmund beat the Ulsan HD Korean team 1-0 (1-0) in high summer temperatures in the last group game of the club World Cup. This means that BVB is in the round of 16 and has won a slightly longer break as the winner of Group F. Daniel Svensson (35th) scored the goal of the day.
In Cincinnati, the weather was again a big topic. Almost 40 degrees Celsius not only let the approximately 12,000 spectators sweat from the start, but also the actors in the field. The substitute players only stayed in the shade, those of the BVB even pursued the events in the air -conditioned cabin. In both halves, referee Tori Penso called for a drinking break.
The BVB itself ensured the good news about the burden. Since Fluminense did not go beyond a draw against the Mamelodi Sundowns in the parallel game, Dortmund, as the winner of Group F, not only won a two -day break, but also as the next venue for the stadium in Atlanta. This has a closable roof and air conditioning.
BVB needs many opportunities to lead
In terms of sport, BVB started well in front of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and US Vice President JD Vance: After two minutes, Serhou Guirassy had the first big opportunity. The Westphalia were clearly determined by the game. The only drawback remained the exploitation of opportunities: Guirassy left three occasions, a direct acceptance of Jobe Bellingham flew just above the crossbar.
After two more opportunities Bellingham, BVB would have had to lead long ago after around 30 minutes. After the drinking break, black and yellow then rewarded for the committed performance: Bellingham put on Svensson in the penalty area, who shot flat at the bottom left. Felix Nmecha almost added 120 seconds later, but the ball broke past the left post.
Ulsan’s keeper Jo outstanding
Just a minute later, Hyeon -Woo Jo in the Korean’s goal prevented the second goal against Guirassy – and almost something developed a private duel between the two when the goalkeeper remained the winner against the striker again in added time. There was nothing to be seen from Ulsan until the break. The goal shot statistics of 20: 0 left no questions whether the Dortmund dominance opened.
After the break, not much happened at first: Dortmund missed the accuracy in the attack game, Ulsan continued to make it dangerously forward. After a little less than an hour, BVB coach Niko Kovac reacted and brought three fresh forces. However, these first saw the first major opportunity for the Koreans, but Gregor Kobel was on the post.
Dortmund brings victory confidently
The BVB could be brought out of the concentration and Ulsan now sensed his chance of drawing with just one goal behind. However, the last pass remained too inaccurate. On the other hand, substitute Julian Duranville caused danger with individual actions.
A quarter of an hour before the end was again drinking and cooling break. Although the stadium now sank half in the shade, the temperature was still significantly beyond the 30-degree limit. This was increasingly noticing in the field: Both teams seemed tired, the last few meters were missing on both sides. With his big chance, Yan Couto woke up the audience again – but found his master again in Jo. The defeat could ultimately not prevent the outstanding Korean goalkeeper.
