National Champion Union is placed directly for the League Phase of the Champions League, Vicekampioen and Cup winner Club Brugge first has to go to RB Salzburg in the third preliminary round. With a win, they are together with Benfica or Nice series, potential opponents are rangers, Viktoria Plzen, Feyenoord and Fenerbahçe. In the event of a loss, Blauw-Zwart is referred to the League Phase of the Europa League.
For the Belgian cup winner there is in principle a place in the play-off round of the Europa League. Since vice-champion Club Brugge won the cup, after winning in the final against Anderlecht, the ticket went to KRC Genk, the number three from the Champions’ Play-Off.
