The posse for the contract extension of Joshua Kimmich at Bayern has ended. But there are new irritation in the relationship between club and player.
After months of negotiations, Joshua Kimmich extended his contract at FC Bayern until 2029. All’s well that ends well? Nevertheless. As soon as the negotiations have ended, there is astonishment on Kimmich’s occurrence after the extension was announced in the Bavaria head of the Bavaria.
The 30-year-old had given both the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and the ZDF sports studio detailed interviews, where he also commented on the end of the contract negotiations. T-online can confirm a report by the “Bild” newspaper, according to which the Bayern bosses see it differently: The supervisory board had clearly informed the sports director Max Eberl as a negotiator to withdraw the offer. FC Bayern Kimmich also announced in November last year that its annual salary of 20 million euros should be reduced, which was rejected by the player. The exact figures were actually only talked about at the end of the negotiations. In the end, Kimmich kept his annual salary, but got no hand money for the signature. He hadn’t asked for that either.
As T-Online learned, however, the interviews gave even more reason to be amazed. The Bayern bosses are said to have been surprised via Kimmich’s ZDF interview, especially through the journey by private jet, which was financed by the broadcaster. Overall, there is astonishment in the club about how much Kimmich has focused on and how important he takes.
