The renovation of the Cruquius bridges started in 2023 and must be completed at the end of this year. The bridge deck of the northern bridge (direction Heemstede) was previously replaced, now it is the turn of the bridge deck of the southern bridge (direction Hoofddorp).

In fact, the new bridge towards Heemstede should have been in use in December last year, but that turned out to be too ambitious due to ‘technical challenges with the bridge valve’. The bridge will open on Monday, and will then be immediately taxed double.

Until the end of the year

The province closes the bridge towards Hoofddorp, to be able to replace it. From Monday, traffic in both directions will run across the same bridge. That situation lasts until the end of the year. Two lanes have been reserved for both directions. The maximum speed is limited to 50 kilometers per hour.

The closure applies from 5 pm tonight to 5 am on Monday morning. A pontoon bridge has been built for cyclists and pedestrians, but motorists from Hoofddorp will have to drive via the Drie Merenweg to get to Haarlem or Heemstede. Motorists from Heemstede and Haarlem are advised to follow the N201 and/or the N205.
