Climate movement and Princess Esmeralda take action at European top | Environment

The climate group Rise for Climate, together with Princess Esmeralda, a delegation from the Amazon forest and various NGOs, campaigned in response to the European summit that is currently taking place. In the vicinity of Schumanplein, the climate movement called for the climate crisis to be remembered.

The traditionally dressed Brazilian representatives from the Amazon forest immediately caught the eye with their colorful outfits. About 50 climate activists gathered around 5.30 pm tonight to remind Europe that they must not lose sight of the climate crisis when fighting the energy crisis.

“The short-term solutions to the energy crisis should not replace the long-term measures to the climate crisis. We remind European leaders that the climate impact is already here and will remain here,” said Tom Boyle of Climate Action Network Europe. “The current energy crisis and transition must be socially fair and solidarity. The European Union must assist the most vulnerable,” Boyle said.

Next Sunday, October 23, another Great Climate March will be held in Brussels, at the initiative of the Climate Coalition. The demonstration focuses on climate and social justice.
