Clearance of asbestos on public domain after fire in Roeselare

They are cleaning the streets after the fierce fire at a waste processing company in the port last week. That’s right behind that. Asbestos particles ended up on the streets and in the houses during the fire.

Zone expanded

The street cleanup should have been completed by now, but the city has now expanded that zone.

“It is quite a job,” says Mayor Kris Declercq. “As far as the public domain is concerned, we already tackled this with the cleaning company on Friday evening. A section of streets that had been determined by the experts. But the wind sometimes blows the particles a bit further and, to be on the safe side, we took the perimeter out a bit. to expand.

As for the private houses, people have been advised again today to contact their insurance company.”

Perhaps by tomorrow night everything should be cleared on streets, sidewalks and other public places.
