On the early evening of August 7, 2025, the emergency services received a call for a small fire in the AZ Oostende, Damiaan campus. Ultimately, it turned out to be five different sources of fire. Two rubbish bins, three down blankets, a cart with linen and a stretcher with sheets had caught fire, but could be extinguished quickly.
A cleaning lady was arrested as a suspect near one of the fires. Kelly G. appeared to have two lighters in her pocket. Based on her badge details, she could also be linked to a similar arson on August 4. Then a burning cleaning cart even threatened to spill over into the building.
