Classic engines roar through Grolloo during the Classic Race

More than one hundred and fifty drivers on classic motorcycles took part in the Classic Race in Grolloo today. It is the first time that a street race is driven around the village.

“It’s not about speed,” says organizer Derk Wekema. “Whoever drives most regularly wins.” The participants also find their challenge in this.

Willem van Emmerik participates on an Eysink from 1936. “It is a hobby that has gotten out of hand, an addiction. Speed is not an option, but going as fast as possible through the bend gives a squeak.”
