FC Barcelona dealt well with the 1-2 defeat in the Clásico in Madrid last weekend and remains the closest pursuer of league leaders Real in the Spanish LaLiga. Coach Hansi Flick’s team celebrated an easy 3-1 (2-1) win at home against FC Elche. This means that the Spanish champions are still five points behind the Royals in second place in the Primera División. Real had won comfortably 4-0 against Valencia FC the day before.
Young star Lamine Yamal (10th minute) with his first league goal since the end of August and Ferran Torres (12th) put Barcelona on the winning track early on. Rafa Mir (42nd) scored the next goal for the promoted team shortly before half-time. Marcus Rashford (61st) made the final score 3-1 for the Flick team in the second half. FC Barcelona’s victory was perfect preparation for Wednesday’s Champions League game in Bruges.
