Cittadella-Cremonese 1-2, goals from Ravanelli, Vita and Vazquez

It all happens in the last quarter of an hour: the guest takes the lead with Ravanelli, Vita equals, then the decisive header from the Argentine

Oscar Maresca

Who if not Vazquez? The Argentine playmaker will decide the advance of the eleventh matchday between Cittadella and Cremonese. El Mudo in full recovery jumps higher than anyone on Quagliata’s cross and pierces Kastrati’s hands. Ravanelli scored the opening goal, then captain Vita equalized. Stroppa’s team wins and rises to 16 points, momentarily catching Modena in fifth place: it is the third consecutive away win for the grey-reds. All the others will be on the pitch between Saturday and Sunday. League leaders Parma are guests of Ascoli at the Del Duca, Catanzaro faces Como and Palermo will face Lecco.

how many opportunities

Cremonese moves better up front. Okereke and Coda exchange well, Zanimacchia on the left is inspired: every time he touches the ball he becomes uncatchable. The 1998 class has two excellent chances: he shoots but doesn’t find the corner, then Kastrati raises the block to avoid the goal after Coda’s backheel assist. Cittadella loses Salvi due to injury, Giraudo takes his place. Gorini’s men try to increase the pressure: Vita heads Sarr right on Giraudo’s cross, shortly after Okereke shoots high over the crossbar. The first half ends without goals.

Cremonese shot

In the second half the pace slows down, Branca shoots just wide in the 46th minute. Lots of contrasts in the middle of the pitch and little concreteness in the final metres, until midway through the second half when Cassano overtakes four opponents, then the ball ends up in Maistrello who shoots high. Vazquez enters in the 59th minute and starts sorting balls, Stroppa’s team plays well. Buonaiuto had the best chance for the guests: he shot very hard over the crossbar. The number 10 of the grey-reds plays practically alone up front and on Vazquez’s cross he sends the ball wild. In the end, Cremonese passes, Ravanelli is the fastest to get to the ball after a melee in the area in the 79th minute: first goal of the season for the defender who makes amends for last week’s own goal against Sudtirol. After a minute, however, Cittadella equalizes the score with Captain Vita: control to the limit and volley. So far the midfielder born in ’93 had not yet scored in the league. But in full injury time the result changed again: Quagliata – who came on in the 85th minute in place of Zanimacchia – crossed perfectly for Vazquez: the former Parma player jumped higher than anyone and beat Kastrati. It is also the first goal in Serie B for the Argentine playmaker with the Cremonese shirt. Stroppa’s team wins 2-1, rising to 16 points and momentarily catching Modena in fifth place. Second defeat in a row for Cittadella after the defeat against Pisa.
